Who we are
ADU Scope is an informational website about accessory dwelling units in the United States. Our website address is https://adunorth.com.
Information we collect
- Server logs: like most websites, our hosting provider records technical data when you visit, such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time of the request. This is used for security and to keep the site running.
- Information you send us: if you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message, and we use it only to reply.
- Comments: if comments are enabled and you leave one, we collect the data in the comment form plus your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam. An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it.
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. WordPress may set cookies needed for the site to work, and logged-in administrators receive additional cookies. If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name and email in cookies for next time. Third-party services described below may also set cookies.
Advertising and Google AdSense
ADU Scope may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. The use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings.
- You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.
Where required by law, we ask for your consent through a cookie banner before non-essential cookies or personalized ads are used, and you can change your choice at any time.
How we use information
- To operate, secure and improve the website.
- To respond to messages and correction requests.
- To show and measure advertising through third-party providers.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help run the site (such as our hosting provider and advertising partners) and when the law requires it.
Retention
Server logs are kept for a limited period set by our hosting provider. Emails are kept as long as needed to answer you and keep a record of corrections. Comments and their metadata are kept until deleted.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain uses, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. To exercise these rights, email admin@adunorth.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
